I’m Alex and I am a web developer in Buffalo, New York. Since becoming a developer in 2017 (I used to be a math teacher), I’ve accumulated experiences and observed patterns that I think would be valuable to share with the world. At its core, I see development as problem solving. The day-to-day life of a developer involves overcoming hurdles that are often non-technical in nature and require general reasoning and problem solving skills. While I am not classically trained programmer (I went to school for math and philosophy), I’ve found that the non-technical skills I’ve developed over the years have given me the most mileage as a developer. In my blog, I’m hoping to present some common problems I’ve come across as a developer and share how I’ve overcome them.
Most of my time is spent on the back-end side of things (C#, SQL, PHP) but I also enjoy working on the front-end (HTML, CSS, JS). I’ve also taught Python to teenagers as part of a summer camp and like to play around with various other languages and frameworks for personal projects. In my personal time, I like to play video games (exclusively Nintendo!), listen to music, and get outside and walk. Check out my Nintendo fan-site!
